I’m maybe a bit late to the trend of sharing your ChatGPT AI-generated caricature... everyone was doing it a few month’s ago, weren’t they?

Anyways, I thought I would share mine, which was HI-generated by the way.... from the creative mind of a human, hand-crafted by a human - my daughter Aila Wishart (Age 8 or 9 at the time).

She’s certainly captured my key features.

🚀 Celebrating Burns Night with a new eCommerce website for HaggisUK.co.uk

GUGA Creative was approached by Haggis UK last year with the challenge to redesign and modernise their eCommerce platform, ensuring a smooth transition for their loyal returning customers. As one of the UK’s leading wholesalers of haggis, they needed a site that performed flawlessly — especially ahead of their busiest season.

We refreshed their visual identity, elevated the user experience, and delivered a high‑performance, mobile friendly site in time for the global celebrations of Burns Night on 25 January, where Scotland’s iconic dish takes centre stage.

A great collaboration and a fantastic project to kick off the year.

Anyway, I saw this quote in Rick Rubin’s ‘The Creative Act’ which I thought was spot on in describing my attempts at trying to print something skillfully and for no one but myself!

Loved the process on this one - creating an edition of 10 A5 two colour Lino cut relief prints initially then reproducing them as lovely colour combo RISO printed A6 postcards, printed by the the amazing @risottostudio

We’ve been continuing our collaboration with @upperballaird and flower grower @eleanorgrowsflowers_ with creative work and printed promo materials; stickers, leaflets and posters to help them promote their local, fresh, seasonal cut flowers which are now available to buy direct for occasions or events, via monthly subscriptions or from local florists.

I recently spent a weekend at the @glasgowprintstudio doing a workshop with @ros_lawless experimenting with screen printing along with my friend @full_beard. It’s been 15years since I last screen printed anything so this was a blast getting a refresher of all the processes involved. It’s such a great way to create stuff! Can’t wait to get back in to the print studio to work on something new!

Also, check out the exhibition ‘Start With Something: Contemporary Abstraction’ currently at Glasgow Print Studio, it’s full of amazing work and well worth a visit.

🥕💥NEW CLIENT / VISUAL IDENTITY - I’m really excited to be working with a exceptional couple who are launching a new food & drink business venture In Callander with a hyper-local approach to dining, sourcing the freshest ingredients from nearby farms and producers, foraging from the wild and crafting each dish with an artisan’s touch.

It’s nearly Burn’s Night, which means it’s nearly time to pipe in the haggis - great cheiftain o’ the puddin race!

We’ve created branded merchandise for @thehaggisexperience who offer a unique and authentic Scottish experience with haggis making presentations and demonstrations, on a working sheep farm just outside Balfron in the heart of Stirlingshire.

It was great to get to see some samples of wearable merchandise we’ve designed this week which The Haggis Experience will be selling soon at their classes and demonstrations.

Happy New Year! Is it really 2025? Last month and the run up to Christmas, was as usual, way too busy, so I didn’t get a chance to post about this ‘mighty oak’ of a printmaking project from December...

After several months of talking about doing it, December’s Primary School Christmas Fayre fundraiser motivated me and my mate Andrew Purnell @letttters to finally get round to take relief prints from logs from one of Killearn park’s largest and oldest oak trees which dropped a couple of fairly significant branches last year giving us some souvenirs to experiment with.

We went on to print a limited run of 24 log prints in black ink and 10 log prints in red ink on Washi Kozo Japanese paper.

And the result was better than we expected, and such an enjoyable and rewarding collaboration with a creative mate, which included our kids getting involved in the printing process and the stall at the Christmas fayre, where all proceeds from sales of our prints went to Killearn Primary School.

Thanks to everyone who bought one, I hope you enjoy it as much as we have!

🎄🎄🎄🎄🍺🍺🥃🥃🎉 That’s it, done for the year! Closing down today for the holidays equal parts exhaustion and euphoria! I’m off to Glasgow to meet some fellow designer friends for our annual Christmas night out to raise a glass to old friends and moan about the year we’ve had!

As is customary for this time of year I have stepped on to the passing bandwagon of ‘wrapping-up’ the year with a selection of my favourite projects from 2024. Its a round up of some of the stuff I’m most proud of but it’s also a nice snapshot for me to look back on in the years to come to remind me of what the hell I’ve been doing!

It’s been a full-on, challenging year and it’s been one full of positive change and creative development, so thanks to everyone who we work with and supports us to do the creative stuff we do.

I had the best Friday night EVER playing around with the endless creative possibilities of a Riso copier!

I headed to RISOTTO STUDIO in Glasgow for an analogue Riso printmaking workshop - working with collage and experimenting with Riso printing in all its colourful, wonky, random, inky glory!

We were thrilled to work on their new website, showcasing their range of services, locations and projects - bringing history to life through their extensive finds gallery and archeological archive. It was really inspiring to bring heritage and history into the design of their responsive site, using curved lines and shapes to emulate the contours of landscape - hinting at ‘what lies beneath’.

Celebrating 8 years today!

It’s been a challenging but rewarding 8 years in business - from the (then) spare room at home to the shared studio space at Killearn Mill with @linearchitectureltd - it’s been an interesting journey, learning all the time, discovering and growing on every project.

Introducing our visual identity work with Upper Ballaird Farm Co-op. A not-for-profit enterprise who’s goal is to support the health and well-being of their community and environment through food, flowers, and outdoor services, produced and sold by empowered workers with regenerative livelihoods.

We’ve created a visual identity system that encompasses not only the natural landscape that surrounds them but also the core values of Upper Ballaird Farm Co-op that connect everything they do; supporting the well-being of their community, workers and environment - the core values by which they exist by and by which drive them forward.

So excited to now be applying the new identity to a variety of touch-points and see it come to life in the wider community.
